EUROPIA proposes Solomon Associates system for allocating GHG credits

Solomon Associates’ newly patented system for greenhouse gas emissions performance assessment and allocation has been proposed by the European Petroleum Industry Association (EUROPIA) as the basis for allocating GHG allowance credits within the EU’s carbon trading regime.

In the U.S., the Western States Petroleum Association (WSPA) is evaluating the use of the Solomon Associates’ system for allocating credits in California in response to the California Global Warming Solutions Act of 2006.

According to Dale Emanuel, president of Solomon Associates:

In the emerging carbon economy, the fair and accurate assessment of GHG emissions performance becomes increasingly important to the refining industry and other industries with energy-intensive assets. The development of this patented system demonstrates our company’s unique ability to create industry-standard methodologies for comparative performance analysis — as well as the trust we have earned within the global energy industry over the past 30 years.

The system was developed by Solomon Associates consultants Bill Trout, Michael Hileman, Rick Jones and Robert Broadfoot.

Since 1980, Solomon has provided benchmarking and performance improvement consulting services to the energy industry to help clients identify and close their performance gaps to realize the full margin potential of their assets. To do this, we rely on experienced and innovative industry-specific teams to apply their knowledge to evaluate and improve upon each operation we analyze.
