A Butadiene plant, like any manufacturing asset is sustainable so long as it can produce quality products at a competitive price in a safe and environmentally responsible manner. The goal is to make sure that each asset generates the maximum rate of return for the production company’s owners and stock holders. The Butadiene Study is designed assist manufacturers in evaluating the efficiency, sustainability and competitiveness of their facilities by comparing each plant’s key performance indicators (KPIs) to that of their industry peers.

Participation in the Worldwide Butadiene Performance Analysis (Butadiene Study) provides butadiene manufacturers with data useful in evaluating and tracking their competitive position and the effectiveness of their performance improvement efforts. The study will help producers identify their manufacturing strengths, weaknesses, opportunities for improvement, and sustainability threats in key areas. The study results provide data useful to manufacturers when addressing questions concerning the welfare and sustainability of their production facilities:
- Are my operating costs in line with other producers?
- Is there an opportunity for me to operate more efficiently?
- Do other producers have the same reliability issues that I have?
- Does the age and capacity of my plant prevent me from being a first-quartile performer?
- Does my cost of production place my market share in jeopardy?
