The evaluation methodology is specifically designed to capture priority performance improvement opportunities. The evaluation consists of a detailed analysis of the RAM Study results and an on-site review of current organization practices, based on our unique worldwide database of best reliability and maintenance performance and practices. Recommendations focus on maximizing the return on assets by addressing the major performance improvement opportunities and the practice gaps that are the main causes for suboptimal performance. Our experience shows that such recommendations, when implemented, typically yield sustainable benefits worth at least 10 times the investment, with minimum disruption to the plant’s organization.
Solomon has conducted a number of assessments at refinery sites around the world and in every case has found significant improvement opportunities. We are uniquely positioned to assist in improving P&O performance because we have the only database containing solid data and an inventory of best practices vetted by some of the best-performing refineries in the industry. As these improvements are primarily work practices, there is usually no capital investment. Pay-out is typically as quickly as practices can be implemented. The Solomon P&O Assessment consists of a 2-week on-site visit with the results presented at the end of the visit.
The evaluation includes an on-site review of control strategies and practices, and provides recommendations for installing or improving the application of appropriate best practices at the refinery. Recommendations focus on maximizing the return on assets by addressing the major performance improvement opportunities and practice gaps that are the main causes for suboptimal performance. Our experience shows that such recommendations, when implemented, typically yield sustainable benefits, with minimum disruption to the plant’s organization.
This assessment imparts an understanding of performance gaps and identifies potential targets for energy improvement based on insight into the client’s facilities and energy management practices. This understanding provides the basis for addressing the performance issues that prevent the client’s facility from achieving better performance. The assessment allows Solomon to help the client identify the strengths and limitations of their organization and facility, as well as the economic incentive to undertake improvements.
