Greg has more than 25 years of business and technical experience in the global energy industry—refinery, petrochemical, pipeline and terminal, upstream oil and gas, power generation, environmental risk and remediation, etc. Under his tenure, Solomon significantly broadened its service offerings to include the benchmarking of downstream supply chain assets, a net cash margin approach to management consulting with a focus on operational best practices, energy efficiency programs, and an expertise in carbon allocation schemes.

As a speaker at various industry conferences, he has presented on topics such as Operational Excellence in the Energy Markets, Competitiveness and Historical Global Trends and Climate Change – Threats and Opportunities, and Environmental Risk and Exposures. In addition to being Chairman and CEO of Solomon, Greg serves as the Executive Vice-President of Engineering Services for The Hartford Steam Boiler Inspection & Insurance Company, Solomon’s parent company.

Greg began his career at the US Geological Survey as a scientist specializing in landslide stability, earthquake studies, and western US tectonics and stratigraphy. He subsequently co-founded Applied Earth Technology, Inc., a firm that conducted upstream research, and specialized in technical and business analysis for oil and gas exploration. Prior to joining Solomon, Greg served as Senior Vice-President responsible for engineering services that supported energy-related issues for insurance, and financial services and investments for American International Group, Inc. He also served as Chairman of SAIGTAS, a Shanghai, China-based company providing consulting services to mainland China energy companies. Greg holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Geology and a Masters degree in Business Administration from Southern Oregon University.
