HSB Solomon Associates LLC (Solomon), an international management consulting firm specializing in performance improvement consulting and multi-client benchmark studies to the energy industry, is seeking an experienced senior refining professional to serve as a Senior Consultant for our European and Middle East (EME) business unit (Solomon Associates Limited). The Consultant will work with other professionals on benchmarking studies and performance improvement consulting assignments, and will also be considered to fill an anticipated vacancy to serve as our Director of European Operations within 2–3 years.
The position involves data analysis, project management, technical/operational consulting, client relations, and business development in delivering services to our worldwide client base. Top-notch technical and analytical skills plus competent computer application skills (spreadsheets, databases, and graphics) are required. The position also requires an understanding of the broad business issues facing the refining industry and an in-depth understanding of the economic driving forces.
We prefer generalist candidates with experience in the following areas:
- Operations Management
- Business Optimization & Operations Planning
- Organizational Effectiveness
- Energy Management and Refinery Engineering
- General Refinery Management
The successful candidate will have at least 15 years experience in refining with perhaps some additional consulting experience. Key to the success of this position are excellent written and oral communications skills and the ability to present detailed information in a concise manner. The ability to function effectively and comfortably across all the countries in Europe and the Arabian Gulf will be highly regarded. Applicants must have an engineering degree, preferably chemical engineering, and be willing to travel. MBA and foreign language skills would be assets for this position.
The successful candidate will join the company in our Dallas, TX USA office for approximately 6 months training and familiarization before returning to Europe and working closely on the reporting and presentation of the 2008 refinery study.
